Fantastic local theatre offering a mix of new releases and independent films. The only movie theater in downtown Kingston, in easy walking distance from local businesses and the university. Very affordable membership and better selection of refreshments than at most multiplex theaters. Note that payment is cash only, with no advance sales of tickets. Try to arrive early for popular shows!
The renovations are really nice and make this theatre a much better experience. The updated seats are very comfortable and the people are friendly. This theatre is perfect for those who love movies without watching it with a ton of people. If you are looking for a place where everyone who goes here has a genuine appreciation for the artistry, this is the place.
It's one of my absolute favourite places in Kingston. Screening Room always has a well-curated movie list, the price of admission and concession food/drinks are reasonable, and the membership card is cute (also worth it if you go at least twice). Note: It's CASH ONLY
Cinematic gem in the heart of downtown Kingston with superior accessibility thanks to the recent renovations. Excellent concessions are far less expensive than the big movie plexes. Buttered popcorn is fabulous and there is a good selection of drinks. The accessible washroom is quite possibly the largest I have found anywhere and could accommodate large mobility devices and care assistants with ease. While everyone is lined up in Toronto for TIFF, you can see first rate films here with no hassle and low prices. The excellent website has detailed information that anticipates any questions you might have about parking, prices and access. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Just remember - it is CASH ONLY.
Oh my goodness. If you haven't been to The Screening Room yet do yourself a favour and go. This is one of the most wonderful places Downtown Kingston. The owner clearly cares about movies so much - the member's card is a bargain, with the new renovations there are more screens, nice washrooms, and an elevator (yay accessibility!). They also serve mugs of tea and fresh popcorn! What are you waiting for?
