I cannot say enough about this yummy German cafe. The decor, the staff, and the food are all great! Very welcoming environment and wide selection of alcohol. Extensive menu which includes an entire section dedicated to sausage and schnitzel. There is also some seafood and other fare. Check it out. Probably the best restaurant in Kingston, and really made my experience there worthwhile.
It was quite busy when we arrived, but they found a table for us fairly quickly. The menu has many items on it, and all are very reasonably priced. I had goulash soup followed by Hungarian goulash, which might sound like Overkill but was meant to recreate experiences I had 40 years ago. It was wonderful. As I mentioned, the bill was very reasonable and we all left completely satiated. This was definitely a five-star experience.
Chosen for its dog friendly 'beer garden'/ patio and its selection of German food, we found supper at the Cafe to be a wonderfully relaxing experience. The Platter for Two was delicious and included a bread basket, an appetizer of salad or soup and a hardy serving entree of three meats, potatoes and sauerkraut. There was plenty for two people with leftovers for a second meal. A Crepe Mozart was a fabulous dessert and large enough for sharing. Serving staff was attentive, courteous and offered to bring more water for my dog. Cost was quite reasonable for the value received. Highly recommended for a casual and flavourful meal.
Food is unerringly delicious; ample portions; diverse dishes and variety of wonderful tastes. Service is prompt, friendly with legendary German efficiency. Prices most reasonable. Highly recommended!Only downside in our case was a vexatious noisy group nearby. No hangings to absorb sound and the Mozart music was too low in volume to submerge the boisterous rantings.
Cozy and understated atmosphere, and consistently delicious dishes including a whole page of vegetarian options. The staff is attentive and orders always come faster than anticipated. Seasonal recommendations include the mulled wine during the colder months and the hidden patio in the summer.
