Clean and nice motel. They added a few pieces of fresh fruit in the room as well. Overall well worth the money
Clean and comfortable rooms with a modern decor and all amenities (fridge, freezer, microwave, Keurig coffee). The outside looks old and run down, but don't let that stop you from going there, it is a great place for a one-night stopover between Toronto and Montreal. We were told by the front desk that they only post the best rooms through the major site (like the one that rhymes with "encyclopedia") so maybe stick to that site to book it.
My friend and I were utterly disappointed in the complete lack of customer service and respect demonstrated by the staff at the Lord Nelson motel. The room itself was decent for the price and the location was convenient for our needs. We were attending a knitting convention and planned to spend the rest of our time in Kingston perusing the many thrift stores throughout the city. The bathroom was somewhat unkempt and inadequately stocked with very harsh shampoo. The beds themselves were average, suitable and price appropriate. We did enjoy spending the waning hours of our evening playing a riveting game of connect four before retiring to our respective queen sized beds. All in all, an average and expected stay at a low rent motel. The following morning we were rushed out of our room after having confirmed a late checkout. We were abruptly notified that we had to be out in 5 minutes and subsequently treated like pair of infantry soldiers late to breakfast call. We hurried ourselves and our adorable apple head chihuahua out the door while the crass and surly staff barged in and began cleaning before we had even left the room. We felt unappreciated and disrespected, while our dog cried in the passenger seat, keenly aware that we were upset. After offering profuse apologies and an extra $25 for our inadvertent late exit, we regrouped and prepared to attack the thrift stores with zeal. Just before we closed the doors to our wood paneled station wagon, the surly owner approached my partner and aggressively accused him of stealing the hair dryer from the bathroom. I broke down in defense of him, knowing full well that thievery is not in his nature. Although we left feeling unappreciated and accused, we now find ourselves enjoying the fine amenities offered at a different Motel which include a jacuzzi tub, a king sized bed, a full bathroom, a fireplace and the food network on demand. Please be wary of the man behind the desk at the Lord Nelson for he treated paying customers were utter disrespect. P.S. They intentionally stole a very expensive shoe from us as well.
The motel has great ammenties in the room and on site like a fire pit and a BBQ. The room was clean and newly renovated. Only beef was the thickness of the walls.
A comfortable room in a retro motel. The owners have put considerable thought and money into upgrading to modern conveniences. The price was right ... my wife and I spent two restful nights there. My only complaint was that we had a king sized bed ... I prefer a queen sized bed because it's easier to find my wife when it's dark.
